    Ricoh MP3500 toner tray

    I'm a Kon/Min tech so excuse me if this is a stupid question. What would cause the toner tray to get stuck? A new account called and said the toner tray is stuck. Can't push in or take out. Going out there Monday. This is what they explained over the phone, ha-ha you know how that is. I asked them if they removed the cap and they said yes, etc etc.
    Looking in the serv man looks like the whole tray slides out of machine while holding the lever open?

    Also I looked in the service manual and cannot find the procedure to get into SP mode, is it the same as the other ricoh's, "clear" 1,0,7, stop" ?

      The only things that I can think of are wrong toner bottle or the tray is popped out of the guide plate on the bottom. Worst case scenario, is you might have to access from the top by removing the exit tray. Not always easy.

      Yes on second question, that is unless someone has changed it, but most don't know that you can or how to do it.

          The thing i run into most often is the clear plastic plug from the old bottle is still inside the grabber, when they insert the new bottle it cant seat correctly for obvious reason, usually they cant push the hopper all the way in when this happens. customers are confused when ask about it becuase they are thinking the black screw on cap is what your asking about, not the clear plug. I also see the release lever get bent out of place which lets them slide the hopper in but cant push the handle all the way down because the handle hits the release lever. Otherwise like slim said they got the wrong bottle.

                  Handle on the hopper is probably stuck. Or depending on the customer... the bottle in the wrong way. But my money would be on customer put toner in then dropped the handle then tried to slide it back in.
