    [CQ] sp c242sf

copies are washed out, colours are correct. Ran colour registration in machine settings in menu, but no change. Is there a Colour Correction for this copier. Or maybe some other calibration? Regards Rob

    1. Thoroughly clean all mirrors in the scanner.
    2. Run Auto Color Calibration in User Tools - Maintenance.

If the color grey scales for the Auto Color Calibration is faded, then the machine is under toned and ACC will fail. When the color grey scale is correct, the scan portion will compare the scanned image to what it should be and adjust accordingly. In the printer portion, it adjust the print processor.

If you take a lock at the shading plate it certainly has melted glue on it. There is a bulletin about this...Change the shadingplate(it comes as an assy with the
orginal glas) and the colours wil be fine again..have had this 2 times....

1 cant get scanner off. Service manual page 4-91 step 6 says remove 1x screw but it only spins, although last step in remove scanner, it does not remove? 2. Their is no ACC or maintenance in menu, only found Colour Regist in machine settings, that had no effect.

those scanners are a pain, i know to remove it you have to take off the back and unhook the adf wiring harness on the right side and pop the adf off theres a screw in one of the hinges i think. With the adf removed the scanner top slides to the rear i believe it only slides back so far and then hits the stop screw which is under the lid where you lift up to get to the pcus i believe its on the right side of the laser unit, this is one of those plastic pop up screws you back the screw out till its loose then pull it with some pliers the screw has that plastic grabber attached like wall anchors they use in old houses to hold screws in plaster etc. Once you get that out you can slide the scanner off. Theres like 9 screws on the bottom side of the scanner you have to pop the front moulding off i believe to get to some of them, that removes the whole glass top and surrounding plastic. From there tou can see the white plate sticker and access the ccd.
