    MP2852

    Hi,

Got an MP2852 that won't start, the display is on bot stays that way.
finally it gives an error saying there is a functional problem and it restarts . . .

Customer complaining about a strange sound coming from the machine for a couple of months.
turns out to be the PSU, there is a clicking sound coming from the relais on the PSU
Checked the voltages coming from this PSU, seems allright.

Also BICU and controller seems to be fine.
Also checked the start without laser being connected. no results . .

    anyone ??

    Thanks in advance

If the power supply is making a clicking sound then i'd start by replacing the power supply board.

Does it start with side doors open?
If so it may be that fuser is owerloading PSU board, culd be that PSU board is damaged or simply power grid doesn't supply enough power to machine, yet if it's fuser related I can't think of any SC code generated that culd restart machine even if it's set to autoreboot...fuser problem=full stop.
Try to power it up with side doors open and enter SP mode to see code writen in history under 7403,that code should tell u where to go on next.
In my experience so far when machine takes alot of time to start it usualy turn out to be HDD or Controler board malfunction.
Here I'd say that for some reason PSU board can't power on Controlor board so it autoreboots.
Gears, springs, clutches, sliders, connectors and electronics...who on earth can tell what's wrong with it?

It would help to see what sc code is occurring. Can you get into SP mode? If not, the code may be displayed on the lower left of the display.

I would swap the psu from a working machine to test, make sure your also powerig up with fax/ethernet unplugged. i would also lean toward a controller/hdd problem. Low power to a fuser usually results in a warm up error, i see a lot more functional errors caused by fax boards or controllers, but a snapping or popping from a psu is never a good sign for a psu down the road.

                Hi

Have you tried starting it without the HDD connected? If it suffered power related issues, the HDD data may be corrupt and causing boot issues which could also result in a SC670.

SC670 means controller stall - which can be cause by HDD issues.

The machine can boot without HDD you will just not have scanning or doc server capability.

If this works, remove and reformat HDD, reinstall and reformat via SP mode and all should be well.

Generally the fax board or de hdd make the error, but if 670 appears the bicu (bcu) is the fail, another cause the bad fram in the controller
