    Can't restore address book

One of my customers has replaced MPC3001 with MPC2800. They have lots of users in address book. I created backup using WIM but while restoring it on MPC2800 it shows "encryption key is not valid". No encryption key was set while creating back up, even tried by entering key but to no avail.

I think you can try this way.
1.First make a back up the addres book from the MPC2800
2.Copy just the rename of the MPC2800 backup
3.Paste the rename on the MPC3001 backup
4.Add to the address book in WIM of the MPC2800
    hope will work

A backup made on one model is not always compatible with another model. Since you are trying to migrate to an older model, they file lay out is not compatible. You could try updating both machines to latest firmware.

You can contact Ricoh and request a custom firmware. You have to explain who the customer is and why you need the firmware.

You can check if there are software that will convert the address book backup file.

Use a SD card instead of the WIM. Format a sd card, 2 gigs or less, with the panasonic sd card formatter and back up the addy book to the card. I have also encountered issues backing up through the WIM, but worked with an sd card.

Worst case if you still can't export the address book, open up the file in excel then copy & paste the emails into the address book though the WIM, a bit slow but a lot quicker than typing each one in!

Smart device Monitor is no longer available from Ricoh. You now have to use Device Monitor NX.

Was this finally resolved? Do both machines have a FAX option? We had an identical message today, updating a C4500 (with FAX) to a C3001 (no FAX). The Scanner Address Book was transferred successfully but it was looking for the FAX option to restore its Address Book.

I have had similar situations where it will say it failed, but when you go back to the address book, all scanner addresses have transferred.

True, it has been discontinued but still avaliable!

NX is terrible unfortunately from my perspective, SDMA is a much faster and easier interface
