MP2852 not able to install as a printer or see Web Image Monitor

    Ok...Here goes,

First off I am no network guy, not even close. I can't even network my home computers together, seriously.
But I have always been able to get a copier to hook up to a small office computer.

Unit: Ricoh Aficio MP 2852 with 54K. Purchased by me to resell to my customer.
    Delivered copier to customer.
Hook up and ran new Cat5 to router.
Noticed that there were IP's already setup from previous owner still in the Interface Settings area. I changed to a new IP.
Setup IP address in copier. Used 192.168.1.22
Office has 2 computers running Windows 7 not networked together.
One is cat5'd directly to Charters router and the other is wireless and also hooks to Charters wireless router, both are accessing the router and cable modem as they should.
Next tried installing copier/printer to main computer using IP address input-ed to copier earlier and being copied straight from config sheet.
Computer can't find copier even after creating a new port and installing drivers (Tried Win 7 and Ricoh drivers from Ricoh-USA)
Next I tried to ping the copier from a command prompt...nothing.
Switched new Cat5 with another Cat5...nothing.
Tried to open Web Image Monitor using IP...Nothing (page timed out) Then I get the idea how about DHCP...same results as above.

Then I switched to the other computer...reason you ask..because it was wireless and had an open network spot to directly hook copier to, instead of the other computers router. Repeated all above procedures...still nothing.

Ok lets talk copier. Everything appears normal all buttons in User Tools are present and working, able to print out config sheet.
I rebooted multiple times during install attempts. Copier works in every other way except being able to print.

I have no back reference as to the history of the machine. I can't speak to if it had issues before today.
Unit was purchased from a wholesaler I've been using for years.

    I think that's it.
I forgot to bring a config sheet with me when I left the customers office. I'm not a network guy...never thought to, until now.

Please if you have an idea of what the issue may be or an idea of something to try, lets have it.

I am desperate here. This is in an accountants office and it's tax season. And they ain't happy pencil pushers right now.

    Thanks for looking

    Re: Communication
You should be able to setup a PC and cross over cable directly into the MFD to test everything works first off.

What is the router IP address?
What is the MFD IP address?
Sound's like the router and MFD are on different subnets or with different netmasks.

The router must be configured for "DHCP Server" configuration if using the router as a network server. NB. This will fix your home PC network problems.

The MFD can be set with DHCP or Static IP address configuration. Check which setting is active. If using DHCP be sure to set the MFD DNS address to the same as the Router IP address. Make sure the MFD gateway IP is set the same as the Router IP address. Save all the above steps correctly in the configuration mode, power down the MFD and power up again.

    RE: Printing
I'm not sure if this machine requires a Print/Scan SD-VM card. Check it's in the correct slot and working.
Of coarse, that you have the correct printer driver installed.

When you set the machine to 192.168.1.22, did you check what IP scheme is being used by the router?

Jump on a PC and do winkey+r and then type 'cmd' and press enter.
      type 'ipconfig' and press enter
check what details are listed under 'local area connection' either 'wired' or 'wireless' depending on which PC you are on. The MFD will need to have the same details programmed (with the exception of the IP address of course, which normally should be somewhere out of the DHCP range like .200 or higher)

For an MFD to be useable on a network, the IP address, subnet mask and gateway should be configured correctly at the very least.

Set the machine to DHCP, give it a minute and then print a config sheet. See what it tells you. If the IP address starts with 169 then you have no connection to the router or the DHCP did not assign the MFD an IP address. If the IP address is 10 dot something then you will need to set it up on that IP scheme.

Perform a memory clear on NCS. This will reset the network card to factory default, removing all previous IP settings and range restrictions in place from the previous owner. Note: Some routers use a different sub-net for wireless vs wired. Also, some routers have 'guest' wireless, which again, is on a different sub-net. Check ipconfig /all on both PC's. More than likely they are set to DHCP. If so, set the copier to DHCP to prevent IP conflicts later down the line. Then use the hostname (device name, usually RNP...) to print to.

First of all- are you trying to connect one PC wirelessly and one wired? I think it has to be one or the other- either wired or wireless.-
Secondly- If this is a secondhand device and has the previous owners' IP details still programmed what potentially is still on the HDD? Do you not think there's a possible data confidentiality issue here? If you don't know the pedigree of the device you can't tell if there's software installed to stop it communicating outside the network parameters it was originally set up with. Try formatting the HDD externally with a caddy, then format it again inside the device (SP5832 Format All) and start again with the network install.

Do you purchase these from the wholesale guy sight unseen?
Wondering why it never went to your workshop BEFORE being installed at your customer?
We always give our second hand resales a once over INCLUDING test printing...was it sold to the customer and delivered straight there by the wholesaler?
If so might I suggest changing that part of the equation from now on?

I would clear the NCS settings and the UCS settings to clear out any previous network settings from the last owner............

You can try this also, press hold # then press System Settings in the User tools.
