    Equitrac Configuration (MPC 3003sp)

Guys, we are configuring Equitrac solution in new machine model MPC 3003sp but we fail to do it successfully. The display shows "The server is offline. Please refresh to reconnect." Type J and Type C (Java Version) are highlighted under Extended Features.Printing using TCP/IP is fine but printing using Equitrac port is failed. The other old machines model MPC 2800 (PCC3 is used in this model) are working fine in Equitrac. Can you give me some hints on how to configure Equitrac? I have already downloaded the setup guide for PCC4.1.2 in my-ricoh.com and tried the setup configuration but still no success.

Equitrac can be a real PITA if it hangs during installation.
Make sure the SD-card is not write protected before installation.
The Equitrac installation is usually done in the office on site.

Sounds like the Equitrac server has NOT been configured from the I.T. network administration side of the system.
You may need to ring the I.T. Dept and get the Equitrac changes white listed for the network.
Until the MFD/Equitrac software can see the server there is probably not much else to do.
I assume Java and PCC3 script is loaded and running okay on the MFD.

      PCC 4.1.2 is really old.

      Version 4.2.3 is current.

I would suspect this to be the issue, seeing how the copier is so new in comparison.

We did not use SD card in the installation. The PCC program (.zip file) is downloaded to the computer and is installed through Web Image Monitor. We selected Flash Memory because in the target location of the Java platform Type C is FM (flash memory). In fact, there is no card reader installed yet in the machine. The users have their own unique user ID and we were able to enter it in the machine. We were able to access the MFP and ScanTO ME. It means the PCC program is loaded correctly in the machine. But when we were doing some setup in the Equitrac Office manager to test the Equitrac printing, we were surprised the printer shows "The server is offline. Refresh to reconnect". We do not know which settings gone wrong in the Equitrac Office Manager.

Had some thing similar a few years back. The MFD/Equitrac system worked well with user card readers right up until some wisdom nut in government decided to tighten the security to the Equitrac servers. That's when their MFD's an some other online Equitrac linked devices would run as slow as a Sloth. I went back to the customer two times to inform them that their own I.T. have change IP settings or servers and now the MFD system linked together on this server is being bottle necked. The office staff informed me later down the track that their I.T. Dept had changed settings on the Equitrac servers. What those exact settings where I do not know.

Which version of Equitrac are you using? Express or Office, and version number?

Don't you think the version just might make a difference?

Good chance that the newer copiers won't work with old versions of Equitrac.

If it's not at least 5.2, I would think you'd have issues with 03 Ricoh machines.

FYI...the C3003 tends to be a bit touchy with Java apps in general. Not exactly my favorite.

                    RE: Java software.
Sounds like nothing has change with Java and 3rd party application software.
IMO Java has be questionable since it's marriage with Equitrac and PCC as far back as MPC2800 series.
Back then we had a run of Java VM/SD cards die in the MFD because of (what I believe) continued Java read/writes to the VM cards.
I believe the bug in the Equitrac/PCC software was suppose to be fixed back in the MPC2800 series.

Java being touchy doesn't sound like anything new...

While I won't argue that Java can be flaky, that was not my point.

I contend that the C3003 is a piece of crap in general. It only gets worse when you install enablers on it.

And once you develop an attitude like, you will never be able to successfully work on the model. I have no problems with them at all. Of course I make sure they are setup properly before delivering. I also load the latest firmware after setting up and then run ACC. Almost every time I go to a machine that has the complaint of light copies, I find ACC has not been run, or at least there are no entries. Clean the optics and run ACC.

Equitrac is now working in the machine. PCC log in appears in the machine. I enter the user ID and the machine accepts it. Then I press FOLLOW YOU icon and the display shows" REFRESHING DOCUMENTS LIST". After that, this message " FAILED TO GET DOCUMENTS FROM THE FOLLOWING SERVERS:COLOR" appears in the screen. There is OK button below the message so I press it and the list of print jobs shows in the display. I select each job and press the COPY button and it prints. Then, the message " FAILED TO GET DOCUMENTS FROM SERVERS:COLOR" appears again. Why is it appearing? What setting/s in Equitrac Office Manager has to be changed in order to remove this kind of message?12746582_1142777755733409_1218519629_n.jpg

Could it be that the specufic user does not have rights to print color?

Perhaps they have hit their imposed limit?

Does the sme thing happen when printing black and white?

                            Just some thoughts...

The user can print in color while we are doing the testing for Equitrac. When you set the rules at "release all at log in", all documents whether it is BW or color are released.
