I have a MP-C4501 that after you do a color registration, the colors and everything is perfect and text and images come out crisp and clean. However after a few days, i have noticed that it is "slipping" out of registration and getting blurry for lack of better words, but then i do a color registration and it fixes the problem right away. It just seems strange to me that i have to keep performing the color registration, that cannot be right. What do you think might be causing it to get out of focus and out of registration?

Re: MP-C4501 Color Registration Problem
I have seen registration "problems" when the solenoid for that particular drum starts failing...the drum starts slipping and you will start to see what looks like a "drop shadow" in the trailing direction opposite of the paper travel.
Good Luck!

Re: MP-C4501 Color Registration Problem
Alright well sadly cleaning the id sensor didn't do it...it still came out of registration. I am attaching a picture of the ACC.pdf (Auto Color Calibration) so you can see what it looks like. I know it is kind of hard to see but the first one (which is the one before i do color registration to get it back in line again) kind of does like a raising the bar kind of a deal...with yellow being down the furthest and then each color goes up a little bit. And then the second one, after i do the color registration, is perfect. Why does it keep coming out of registration?!Comment

Re: MP-C4501 Color Registration Problem
as it only looks to be the yellow that is moving i would check the yellow drum/dev unit is running smoothly and freely
but worth checking all of themI Used To Live To Fix Things Now i Fix Things To LiveComment

Re: MP-C4501 Color Registration Problem
Since it has happened more then once, I would check some mechanical things pull out the PCUs try and turn them with your hand see if its really hard to turn, if one is much harder to turn then the others the PCU could be dragging and throwing it off which is what it looks like yellow is doing. I would also pull out the ITB and inspect it all around make sure the rubber edges of the belt have not come off letting it move off track it should also turn pretty easily.
Is anything over PM like pcu or ITB cleaning unit or belt, or do they run very little color and still have the original PCU's in it since its an older model they pcus could have aged out. You could try the forced line pos adjustment as well in SP modes 2111-003 (c) then 2111-001 (a). You can also use SP 2109-003 / 005 to print out color test patterns instead of the acc print out. I like to go into Printer SP and print the 1103-002 color test page.
The only other time i had a severe alignment issue that was reoccurring is when the customer was powering down the machine like full power off every night and next day alignment was out due to NVRAM failure it wasn't holding the new adjustments after reboot.Comment

Re: MP-C4501 Color Registration Problem
I have seen this type of issue resolved by replacing the ITB assy. The D144 ITB unit will fit the D088/D089 and the D027/D029 as well.Comment
