[CQ] MP C5000 fuser image transfer

Have been having a running issue with a MP C 5000. Image transfer is happening in fusing unit. First replacement fuser was installed because this was a used machine with a fusing unit that was overdue for a change. Within 6-8 weeks began seeing image transfer again. Replaced fusing unit again thinking first replacement may have had bad part. (It happens). Before replacing fuser this last time, I played with the heat settings just to see what happened. Nothing changed. I do not want to have to replace this unit for a third time, it is getting expensive, but I can think of nothing else to do. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks to all who read.

i never had to many issues with that fuser, we always rebuilt them cause its cheaper then replacing the whole unit but my obvious question would be are you/customer running only plain 20# paper when this happens or is anyone using some thicker paper without using the thick settings sounds simple but it happens a lot.

If the problem went away after the first fuser replacement then I would conclude its Fuser related or the problem wouldn't have gone away for that long of period, I would check the wall voltage of the outlet while the machine is running make sure its not a voltage drop issue the outlet should remain at 114-120v during operation.

Most of my 4000/5000 models the fusers would run 400k-600k no problem, so the problem could be dirty power, or bad HVP board. You could go into SP mode copy window and run like 30 copies and flip over to the SP window and check the temp in SP 1106 (fusing tempeture display) and make sure its staying at temp during operation.

Fusing temperature could be too high or to low as both can cause offset. AC line voltage fluctuations can cause fussing temperature to change. Does this occur with all colors or just one color? If only one color it could be PCU offsetting and not fusing.

Just curious, is the machine supplied with OEM toner?
Aftermarket toner is one of the usual suspects when this problem occurs.

Just for the record, some after market toner will say OEM for Ricoh. I do not trust anything except Genuine Ricoh or NA Trading.

First off I use the SPC820 printer version fuser unit in my C5000's $225.00 and I swap the connectors. Because these fusers no longer have a fuser cleaning roller and heat and pressure somehow magically cleans the assembly... Have no idea how that works... I have a print shop that uses 1 C5000 to print all their color copies with over 2 million color, It had the dreaded ghosting problems from almost the beginning, the way I was able to fix it was anything that was not B/W text was thick 2 or thick 3 especially half/full page color. Image quality has always been perfect. It just requires re-training of your customers...

I'll second this! Stick to OEM with the faster models.
