    Hi Folks,
looking for either new or rebuilt fuser assem. for Ricoh MP2550B series copier, I believe part # D019-4001. I see new fusers are quite expensive, so Im also in search of good rebuilt fuser, hopefully with a warranty...Thanks !

I agree, you can save yourself alot of money by rebuilding the unit rather than buying a whole new one. If its time you are trying to save you can always buy 1 new fuser and after you replace it in the field you could always rebuild it in the shop and have it ready to go for the next time you need it. I allow my techs to do this and it greatly reduces time and customer satisfaction.

      Just my $.02

It's much cheaper to rebuild these fusers than to outright replace them. The cost of a heat tube, press roller, a couple of thermistors, and some fuser fingers isn't that much. Even a full PM kit for the fuser with a transfer roller and paper feed rollers can be found for right around $100 or less depending on where you look and your pricing.

I do keep a full unit in the shop or in the car for emergencies, but overall I'd rather take the time to rebuild onsite and go on with my day.

Buying the whole assembly is almost 800 dollars brand new. Replacing the parts (belt, roller, lower pressure) is 170 dollars. Pretty easily done in about 45 minutes.

              I've seen them on ebay.
              Is yours damaged beyond repair?

We always rebuild in the field on these, I have swapped these out with the older B2097281 fuser on a few models only because I had customer who can't close doors correctly and break off the pressure levers or the lower roller will keep getting stuck on the rear side pressure lever from being closed unevenly. In those instances I swap with the older fuser as it didn't have pressure levers there were springs inside the casing to keep pressure on. Both fusers rebuild with the exact same parts.

If the fuser frame is all intact all you need is the parts to rebuild it.

                Ae011103 hot roller
                Ae020161 pressure roller
                A2323559 hot roller bearings x2
                Ae030030 pressure bearings x2
                AW100053 thermisters x2
                Ae042029 cleaning roller
                Ae044025 picker pawls x5

Any tech with mild service experience can easily rebuild this fuser, its probably one of the simplest ones in design.

I'm glad to see other techs using these as well. These are actually the bearings for the 35/45 series fusers, but the extra lip on them helps to keep the rollers from slipping out of place if the frame around the heat tube bearings breaks. They save a lot of time and money from replacing an entire lower frame, which is a chore.

The only thing I really haven't found a good replacement for are the screws that set the fuser in place. (Sorry to hijack the thread, but it may be helpful to others are well).

We do the hot roller / bearing ring trick to when the rear side frame breaks from yanking the hot roller up to hard, if you can replace the frame or swap with another fuser great but in a pinch it definitely works out. As far as the screws that hold it in you got me, i really try not to break the tabs on the bottom once that plastic is broke i pretty much replace the frame at that point. I could only see using a flat piece of metal with a hole drilled in it to screw that in while the metal acts as a tab against the fuser frame.

When I find a lower frame with broken plastic bearing holders I remake them using high temp epoxy putty , making them much larger than original , it takes only a few minutes, and lasts the life of the machine.
