    MP 171 door open problems

    Good day friends, am having some problems in the field with some MP 171. They have a door open problem that I cannot seem to get to the bottom of. The latches are not broken but the right door is just not closing properly
    Any suggestions will be welcomed.

      Actuator gets bent inside right cover. use a small screwdriver to bend it out slightly, for better contact. If that doesn't work, obviously the switch is bad.

          Before you go bending things check to see if the plastic tits on the top left side of the door is broken. If not I like two layers of electrical tape cut to size place on the silver actuator instead of bending it, but that my preference because when you bend something it will bend back over time. Mongo

              It seems to be a common issue with these. The "best" fix is to replace the side door cover. It never really looks bent, but it DOES resolve the problem. Its really NOT too bad to take off the transfer unit and couple of guides. I wouldn't recommend trying to find a used one cause it may be deformed as well.

                  Some questions for you:


                  If you say the door is not closing properly - what do you mean?

                  Does it not shut so that it is flush with the frame? Or does it not close at all?

                  Was it so when you got there, or did you discover this after working on the machine?

                  Any chance you have photos of the situation you could post?
