Paper tray #3 no paper MP C3503

I know it's in the paper feed unit. I just don't what sensor to replace.

the tray lifts the paper and then drops it down.

Think these trays are like 1mm to short on the back and it doesn't make a push switch. If it works when pushing it in then stick something on the back of the tray to make the switch.

I know the issue is in the "paper feed unit"
I switch trays and the issue still happens, when the tray will work in another slot.
I think it's the photo conductor.
I think the solenoid is bad.
I took one of a working tray and it does the same thing that i am experiencing.

        Then replace the feed unit.

there is an arm that drops through the slot in the lift plate. they sometimes get knocked out of place. pull the feed unit and make sure it is still in lace before you replace it.

I had this exact issue, tray 3 was lifting up, then dropping down in a continuous loop.

But has part of our service visit we're expected to update all firmware, after I did this the fault went away & tray 3 was working fine.

            Coincidence maybe.

Most common issue (and the most simply overlooked) is the (flimsy/plastic) bottom paper tray gets skewed. Best way to check is to remove the unit, manually raise the tray till one side or the other starts to "push" the metal tabs. You can "gently" move the tray to get it straight.

My experience with this arm is that the arm or the plastic portion of the unit that it mounts to is broken.
