check network connection on a mp171 fax

    hi
i only have one of these faxes in the field and it is connected for scanning and printing but fax via phone line.
i am told they are unable to use it because they get ck network connection message.
although they are not using it as a network fax..
i didnt see anything in gooses and havent gone to the account yet.
is there a setting that i am missing?
it worked ok for the first 2 months i delivered it so it seems odd.
    thnx in advance

Sounds like a fax forwarding problem...someone accidentally turned fax forwarding on or the destination cant be scanned to...

You may be having a fax memory problem. Fax SP 5101 Initialize SRAM and Fax SP 5102 Erase All Files.

        hi
        thanks all
I checked the unit out late yesterday and the
        message i have is"CHECK NETWORK SETTINGS 103".
I ran thru all the fax settings and went into service fax mode and did a sram clear but it
        is still there.
i was able to fax out with no issues and the memory went from 98% to 100% when i
        faxed a 10 page test.
        ANyone see this
        thnx

i found answers saying my network settings are not correct
ie.Check network/ settings. (103/203)The IP address setting is incorrect. Check the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway address.

but i print, scan with no problems and dhcp is off with a static IP address entered, subnet and gateway.

I've seen it on a couple of occasions, even though all network settings are correct, and everything works properly otherwise.
You can disable it by turning off fax user parameter Switch 21 / bit 6 (Show network errors)

This is not a fax problem...anyway.
Check the DNS configuration for any wrong inputs
and the "File transfer/ "Delivery option" if it set to "On"
              and change it to "off".

i will take note of the last 2 responses.
i was just looking thru the USER PARAMETERS LIST,
if SW32 SELECT DESTINATION TYPE PRIORITY IS SET TO ELECTRONIC OUTPUT AND not paper output.
                can that be it?
                thnx

I have seen this before. It was a used machine and the previous owner had fax forwarding set up. There was a file that had not been forwarded. Clearing all files in fax SP cleared it.

I am going back today or monday and will take info here and see what works.

                            hi
i still have the message coming up and did spend a bit of time both in set up and fax parameter settings.
very odd as it works without issues.
i have two mp201spfs that i am placing this week and will look thru the settings and try to
                            see if i missed something.
                            thnx
