    MP 7502 Noise

Hi all, hope someone can help,

i visited a site today 1.4m copies on a 7502, initial call was for poor copy quality, look like drum so i too it out to confirm, once confirmed put it all back into the machine,

machine ran about 50 copies ok, then we get a noise, its like a drive noise or gears not meshed. took drum dev out again and re-fitted still the same,

i can replicate the noise if i run main motor in output mode,

Any suggestions ? as yet i havent looked at the drum motor, had to leave site

    thanks

The toner recycling tube on the front of the PCU has two black gears at the bottom. They fail quite regularly on all models of the Martini.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

One of the common noises i get with this PCU setup is on the toner hopper. There is a shaft/auger on top of the toner hopper that runs under the toner separation unit at the front end the shaft has a black gear smaller then a dime and a E clip, you get toner build up in the bushing and it will screech like a goose call. If your hearing grinding though i would inspect the repairs you made, make sure the drum was powdered and the blade is powdered. check your gears on the pcu and toner hopper units.

Check the toner recycling gears on the front of the drum (one that drives the spiral) is meshing properly.

Thanks for all your help, it was indeed the gears on the recycling unit.

              Sorted!

I just replaced both of those on a 7502 with less than 12k on it because waste toner had hardened and seized everything. Broke the waste toner transport coil in the drum unit too.

Definitely the web motor. Had several of these series (brand NEW machines actually), lock up and when enough toner gets jammed in the web and hot roller, makes grinding type noise from extra drag.

I have had new gears start jumping teeth in less than two weeks. Solution is the replace the entire assembly, PN B247 2395 Toner Recycling Ass'y.

I replaced the whole assembly with one from a parts 5500 at the shop.
