I have a MP C 4503 with fax option that will pickup on incoming call, begin handshake, and then stop process. This does not occur every time, it will occasionally receive and print incoming faxes just fine. More often than not it just begins and then prematurely ends process. I have replaced the main fax board with similar results. I have been told that replacing the board connecting fax board to controller board could resolve this issue. I am not convinced that this will help. Anyone else having this odd problem? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: MP C 4503 fax reception issue
This typically happens if you have a poor phone line, crackles on the line etc. Also does the line have a filter or on an extention cable?

Re: MP C 4503 fax reception issue
Try to find out just where the inbound faxes are coming from.
Are they always from the same number(s), or do they vary greatly?
I had an issue about 2 years ago where a fax server could not send to a government agency. After answering, the communication would just stop a few seconds into handshaking. It turned out that the fax server modem ( a gateway, technically) had outdated firmware. Once the gateway got flashed, life was good.“I think you should treat good friends like a fine wine. You should also print out the Service Monitor report in fax sp mode. It will give you very specific error codes with time stamps that you can match up to the journal report.Comment

Re: MP C 4503 fax reception issue
I've had 2 03 fax option stop for no reason.
Both lost the fax forwarding option at first....meaning it just stopped fax forwarding.
Then they both were able to receive faxes but not send.
Replacing the full fax kit fixed it for us....waiting for an 03 to come in for run up and then I'll test with one of these "dodgy" boards.Comment
