RICOH MC305SPF Black toner sensor exceeds specified value. Can that be caused by the end user twisting the cartridge? Best way of correcting this issue ? a sky copy total black? Several dark prints?

SC361-01 refers to the BK pcdu.

I'd check the pm life of the black drum unit replace that first. There is a known issue with the toner hoppers on this model. Its also important to keep the firmware upto date.

Ok so you're not a tech.

I would suggest you book an engineer to call out, might just need the firmware updating.

Over 40 yrs a tech, read my other posts.... I do not know much about this Ricoh... Certified HP tech [ printers and computers ], IBM, Levono, Sharp (old stuff), Mita Copiers, Early Ricoh, Compaq, Okidata, Royal Typewriters, Remington typewriters, IBM typewriters, Rotary Calculators, ect, ect, ect. Even have a toner vac.

I still need to know how to get into the service mode. The I cannot find it in the service book.

To enter service mode press Yellow (reset) 1,0,7 hold C

I'd start by updating all the firmware, I've added this below, download the files as a zip (you have the service manual so can read up on it) but simply unzip all the files into a folder called "romdata" on a blank SD card, shut down the 305 & plug it into SD card slot 2 (The lower one) then power on your 305. After a few mins the screen will show the firmware screen simply highlight them all & press #
