    1027-R in 3350

I went to replace the PCU in a 3350 which already had a 1027 PCU but the new one wouldn't slide in all the way. Is there a pin or something that needs to be removed?

I had one once that the slider for the toner door cover was hitting the frame on the way in

Yes, there is a plastic pin that needs to be clipped off. It's on the lower part of the pcu. i would like to describe the placement better, but it's been a while since I worked on one of those machines.

No modification required for 1027 PCU for use in any model up to at least the MP2852/3352 series.
(There are mods/ pins to be snipped if you want to go the other way and use the MP2550, etc PCU in the older 1027/2027 series)
No harm in snipping the pin(s) off the back end of the unit if you want, but you must be missing something, or there's something wrong with the replacement unit

Make sure you actually have a Type 1027 PCU and not a Type 320. The only difference is the position of the pin on the back of the front plate. If you are buying rebuilt PCU's, since you have R in the title, someone might have rebuilt a Type 320 thinking it was a Type 1027.

My bad! Its actually a 3352! Does that make a difference? I pulled a pcu from a 2550 and that wouldn't go in all the way either...

Yeah, they are different. Take the PCU shutter gear assembly off the front. Under that is the pin / lug assembly. Swap it from the old to the new and it will fit.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

              Hit it.

So I had to break off the tiny pin in the pic. Ran 2801. That is all. (hopefully )
