    mpc2050 running hot

    hi
i just rebuilt a low volunm pig of a machine, just full of dust and looked like it was never cleaned.
gutted everything and blew out with compressor and sprayed alcohol where needed and resprayed out.
cleaned all parts and reassembled it and saw the duplex to roller was melted.
all fans work but the front fan near exit goes on for a little bit,3 seconds?
The back heater exhust fan stays onas does the fan above the controller.
i am going to swap a different fusr in it and cked the fuser settings and nothing was non default.
puzzled...also on simulation 1950 i can changed the fan settings from 0 to ?seconds..kinda confused what that does
    thnx in advance

SP 1950 believe is the length of tie that the fans continue to run after a copy/print cycle has finished.

There are two fans associated with the fusing unit. There is one at the front that pushes room temperature into the fusing unit and one at the back that draw warm air out. If either is not working, the fusing unit will over heat and code. The only time I have seen fusing unit rollers get fused to each other is when the user has found out how to clear fusing codes and keeps clearing them when they continue to occur.

Start by printing out a non default report & check if anything has been changed also check the firmware for the last available version. Also did you remove any fans? If so it's possible you may have put one on back to front on reassemble.

i just figured out the front fan was put in backwards at least when i ckit with my mpc2030 that i use in my office.
i had this once b4 with a 220 b/w ricoh where the exhaust fan was put in backwards.
on 1950 i will try to make it cycle longer but the back two fans" fuser exhaust and controller fan
"i think run all the time.

This is an old model, rubber will perish over time, so it may appear that the machine is over heating when it is not. Replace the roller & monitor the machine. Remember if the machine was getting too hot it would shut down & throw an SC5xx error!

            thnx
i m doing this over 35 yrs and have seen the " melted by time roller" too but the upper right side cover was getting hot..
the fan in front actually pushes air out.and fixing the direction made a big difference
i adj 1950 and it does make the fans in my case, set to 60 seconds after making a copy.
i amm all for a "cool copier" as heat kills over time..
now i ck the machine after sitting for 30 mins and no more excessive heat.
