    Ricoh MPC2500 toner

    Hello There

I have a Ricoh MPC2500 that keeps saying that the black "toner has been depleted" a week after a new toner bottle has been installed. I have replaced the toner pump, the black developer and the drum. The machine will come good after SC3045 is toggled from detect to non detect. It then runs for a week and the error "toner has been depleted" comes back. I would like to upgrade the firmware if somebody has it .............or any other suggestions.

    Regards

Turning off End Detect is a temporary measure that most techs use on a local machine...e.g. a machine in town has a toner supply issue so you turn off end detect while you race back to the workshop to grab a pump.
It should NEVER be used as a permanent fix because it will strip all the toner from the dev and throw a TD error.
In short..it never fixes it just hides the issue for the end user.
And failed pumps in these models are commonplace

It comes back because the toner bottle is now empty. Change AP 3045 back to Detect and install a new bottle. If "Toner has been depleted" then comes back, replace the RFID board on the C2500.

It allows the machine to be able to operate. If the toner pump is bad, yes the image density will start to decrease and a TD sensor error will result. Problem identified. If the pump is not bad, the toner sensor on the back of the toner nozzle will detect that the bottle is empty and give a toner near end warning. A set number of copies later, a toner end condition will be displayed.

I have had to do this also after just installing a new pump, and it resolved the problem.
