Out of curiosity, is english your first language? Because in my language (Portuguese) we distinguish "rolos" (pressure roller, fusing roller, cleaning roller...) from "roletos" (feed roller, pickup roller, double feed prevention roller...). In other languages something similar could ocur...

The question was quite valid as you said, but for it to be taken seriously, he should have mentioned a specific brand and model, so that a tech can give a reasonably accurate reply. With so many brands and models, the question is skewed and needed to be rephrased to a more specific target.
To elaborate, each manufacturer designs are different and incorporates mechanisms that others do no. The end product is still a copier though but with differences. The list blackcat produced earlier pretty much describes the major parts required for a copier to function, [roller wise].

How many rollers in BC's descriptive list does researcher Aviso66 actually comprehend?

I do like the fact that Aviso66 is doing research, I really commend him for that. Should we make a powerpoint presentation with some flash cards for his final exam? For any new guy to understand BC's roller list, the lesson would require a lot of images with descriptive explanations to fully grasp the answer to their own question.

There is probably not enough rollers inside an MFD that can be use under a 3000kg copier, that would allow the copier to be rolled up a plank layed flight of stairs. Even if those rollers were mechanically sound.

So what is this research for, aviso66? Are we setting up bins in the parts room, and need to know how many? What are you going to do with this data? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

haha....nice question. everyone has been challenge as all of us know how to fix, not to count some parts, different model have different terminology. you should be specific for the brand. you ask for the rollers, why you didn't ask how many screws in one photocopier. keep it up.
.....with all it shams, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.....

Ok, I'll bite. In a MP5500 parts catalog using the pdf search function the word roller came up 122 times. Not all are rollers, and some roller names have several per machine. Pretty cut and dried. Not.

Yeh, you can use the parts list for a machine to see what rollers they use and you can get an accurate count. But parts list can be tricky and mind bending at times too. So there again. So now you need a trained tech to go through the parts list to decipher which is a valid roller or not, all when using the search word " roller". Uh, that is illogical.
I think a better question for his research is to ask the question," where do copiers go after their end of life and are they recycled ". The goal post has just been shifted

... As BC first stated we could get overly pedantic...

Did the above timely search include :
                      [BC's list plus+++]
                      o Roller bearings
o Individual ball bearings inside each bearing race? (Not a roller perse'),
                      o Needle rollers,
o Shaft lock Roll pins.(Roller by name only),
                      o Dev cam rollers,
                      o Finisher foam exit rollers,
                      o Finisher guide cam rollers,
                      o Retard rollers.
o Every round or ellipse ADF,Bridge,Transport guide roller ever known...
                      .
. Should we include semi-circle(half roller) feed tyres?
                      .
and as Slim said, more is being discovered ...

Who want's to get their name in the Guiness Book of Records for counting rollers in a photocopier ????
