Ricoh mp c4500 new fuser belt tore

I went out for a fuser error code, the machine had a torn chewed up fuser belt, I replaced the belt, thermistors, cleaning, and oil roller... Machine was running but had a vertical blurred image band, seemed to be when paper hit the fuser, the paper would buckle for a sec and get blurred from transfer.

I had to leave and come back this morning to figure out why, I walk in and the new fuser belt is chewed up again!

I've rebuilt these many times and belt was centered but it seems the belt is walking to the edge and getting chewed up.

Foam heat roller is flaking away a little bit at the shaft on one side, but edges are intact. I'm going to replace it along with another belt.

My question is: could the foam heat roller cause the belt to shift and get chewed up, or should I be looking somewhere else? Even if the foam roller is wearing, I figured the ferrite roller and tension roller would keep the belt in place? Any ideas about the blurred vertical band?

    Thanks!

When these fusers start eating belts, replace B223KFUSA. Complete rebuilt kit minus thermistors.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I've found that the foam roller is often the first component in these fusers to fail, and once they go, they take the belt with them. If the machine is used within the expected monthly range, you should be able to get close to 300,000 clicks out of a fuser as long as you replace the oiler and cleaner on schedule. I also try to inspect the foam roller as much as I can without tearing the fuser down on any EM visit: if there's even a question about the roller, it's time for a rebuild.

In your particular case, it sounds like the foam roller could be slipping, so that while it's in place if the foam is coming apart from the shaft then you've got the foam itself working as an impediment and as much pressure as there is on this unit, the belt is going to drift towards the path of least resistance. Does the flaking side of the foam match up to the side that the belt drifted to?

Why rebuild it when you can get the SPC811dn fuser and just move one wire? It comes with a transfer roller also.

Anything that will cause a difference in tension between the ends of a fusing belt or transfer will cause the belt to walk.

When I rebuild these I will use the 242PMB222160K Fuser PM kit plus thermistors. Failing that logrady2331 has the best suggestion using the SP C811DN Printer Fuser Unit. The C4500 Fuser is too much of an animal to cut corners on cheap rebuilds.

                    Hi

Every time when i have to deal with belt, i have somwhere bad ball bearing .. usually on the Pressure Roller
Everybody jump to change the bushing the roller the belt but forget to check the ball bearings ending up again with another new belt etc...
If the belt go out from center to the left then on the left side is a bad ball bearing, if the belt go to the right then the bad ball bearing is in the right side
Also the compression spring can do this.

Rule of thumb. If replacing a chewed belt, replace the orange sponge roller inside it as well. If everything is not 100% square on these beasts they will shread belts.

Dont bother wasting your time tebuilding these fusers, its cheaper to order the complete fuser for the SP821DN a quick modification is all thats needed!
