    Lanier LD335C Would you contract?

I don't know this machine and was wondering if any of you really hate this machine or really love it. New customer want me to contract with him because he thinks he is getting ripped off by present dealer. Not a good start. Parts look ultra expensive but I can work an non inclusive contract so the customer can take risks also. Thanks for any info.

The LD335c is a GREAT machine. If used within spec, the drum and dev units (they're slide in and slide out) go well past yield (according to the service PM counter, I rarely see problems with the drum until around 220-250% of yield), the fuser can be tough if you need to rebuild, but I've had them also go well past yield; make sure to replace the oil roller and its cleaner around 60,000 pages and the rest of the unit will last at least 300,000 or more.
I'd personally make the customer pay for the first set of drums and developer units to put the machine under contract and then go from that point on under a service agreement. For the most part, just let the units run until they fail as opposed to a set PM and you should be good to go.
The machine is also known as a Ricoh 3235c, Savin C3528 and Gestetner DSc435

If he had a previous model color and his CPC went up it's because of the price of the dev and drum units on the new chassis. The price on them is SALTY!!! (But that's been discussed on the forum already.) The dealer may have changed from an all inclusive contract to a B/W only and the end user pays for the supplies and consumables. Either way, the new machines cost more than the old ones which maybe the reason the customer is sore. Just don't screw yourself trying to pick up the buisiness. Try to find out the whole story from the customer and maybe get a copy of the current contract.

They are o.k when they are working, but when they break down they can be expensive. The drums and Dev are not too expensive but there are other parts on this machine..i.e transfer unit and components that can get expensive..

If it were me, I would contract it, but I would make the fuser, oil supply, pcu's and developers supply items and let them pay for it or else it will get expensive for you.. Keep a close eye on the clicks too.. They don't make the best color copies and look for customers that hint saying that they NEED great color copies or else you will be in there making adjustments everytime you turn around for free. Just my two cents...
