mpc5502 not seeing the post script

I have a machine that does not recolonize the post script chip for mac, though the chip is good and works in my shop machine 5502, is there a way to activate it? or is there some reason it does not work that can be resolved??
hmmm any help would be appreciated

If you just yanked the card out of some random machine and tried to pop it into another it will not work. Post Script cards bind themselves to the serial number of the first machine they are installed in. I believe Java and Print/Scan cards do the same as well.

If the customer needs post script on the machine they will just have to bite the bullet and pay for the card for their machine.

The majority cost of the card is the licensing fee from Adobe.

If this card originally belonged to the machine it is in and has stopped working it is possible that it has become damaged.

If the PS option was not merged with another chip, it needs to be in slot 1 to work. What I C\P below is the procedure to merged it to a system\java SD card. If you removed the PS SD form a working machine and it was in slot 2 it is a good chance that it was merged on to the card in slot 1 and was not removed from slot 2 because the person who did it did not know where the sd card holder is. That said, SP5873-002 will allow you to reverse the merge.

      Good luck,

      1. Remove the SD-card slot cover [A] from the SD card slots ( x 1).

      2. Insert the SD card (PostScript 3) in SD slot 2 (lower) with its label face [B] towards the front of
the machine. Then push it slowly into SD slot 2 (lower) until you hear a click

      3. Attach the "Adobe PostScript 3" decal [A] to the front door.
      4. Plug in, and then turn on the machine.
      5. Move the PostScript 3 application from the SD card in SD slot 2 (lower) to the SD card in SD
      slot 1 (upper) with SP5-873-001.
      6. Turn off the machine.
      7. Remove the SD card from SD slot 2 (lower), and then keep it in a safe place ( p.2-93).
      8. Attach the SD-card slot cover, and then turn on the machine ( x 1).

You'll need a brand new Postscript card for this machine. Once the machine uses a Postscript card, it cannot be used in another machine.

I'm still dubious as to whether this actually will make a PS card from another machine work or not. I just haven't had a chance to test it out. Not like those cards are handed out like candy.

ok thanks for all the info, and I have removed this card from a clients machine in orlando, put it in my machine in Tampa at my office, it works just fine, so im not so sure about the binding of the card to the machine, I have also removed these cards from other machines and put them into others with no problems, Thank you for the info and ideas,

This method works just fine. I have done it 4-5 times myself with no issues.
