Hi all,
I have a Staples MPC3501 refurb that is not entering auto power off mode properly and does not shut down when you press the top panel power button.
When you press the button or auto power off enables the fuser pressure comes off as you can hear the motor. As this is happening the button blinks green. You then hear a click/clunk and the light stops flashing as it should (the machine to left works fine). One second later you hear the click/clunk happen again, the fuser pressure sounds like it comes back on and the light blinks continually. The panel stays black. If you lift the document feeder or put paper in the machine usually wakes up and comes ready. The customer complaint is the machine will be in auto power off mode and the customer walks up with a print job on a USB stick and it won't wake up. I have only seen that issue once and the machine would not wake up. I opened doors, pressed all the buttons, document feeder, put paper in the feeder. Only a power cycle with the master switch fixed this.
So far i have:
Updated ALL firmware with special attention to copy/system and the energy save.
Formatted the hard drive
Unplugged the hard drive
Unplugged the document feeder
(I left the DF open on both machines and shut them down, they both react the same way. Light just blinks, when you close the feeder the machine powers up. When DF is shut one shuts down properly the other does not which i think can rule out that little sensor on the back right hinge keeping things awake.)
Something seems to wake the copier up after it shuts down but it does not come fully ready.
Any suggestions?
