    mpc5503

    Hi All

we have an mpc5503 with fuser offsetting
it is on b/w or colour, A3 and A4, middle of day or anytime of day...
oem toner, 125K blk and 25K colour on the clock, latest package firmware.
its also had two fusers and the both thermopiles replaced.
nothing is out of default in sp for fuser
it can do it one in 20 or 3 in 4 on a run, but wont be every single copy/print.
    any ideas please ???

    Regards

Update/reload all firmware. Use individual modules, not the package. Package usually does not have the last 2 or 3 updated modules and it also only updates those modules that are not up to date, it does not reload those that are current. Clear application memory for copy and print only, you will have to reset user defaults for copy function. Check that the paper thickness, not type, setting is correct in user tools for copying and printer properties for printing matches the weight of the paper being used. Monitor fusing temperatures while making a long copy run in SP mode to see if there are large fluctuations, offsetting can be from either too high or too low. If there are occasional large fluctuations, there could be a problem with a board, most likely the PSU.

I agree as stated above. Package firmware only updates half the machine, I never use the package firmware, update using the modules, all of them

OEM Toners.... try to set thick 1 even its plain paper.
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

You must be shure that your client adjust the paper weight when he uses thick paper, because when he don't, this is the symptom and trouble you will get.
When we install a new machine we set the by pass standard on "thick paper 2" and inform the customar (very) well!
Also I recommend to select "thick paper 1" for labels...
          Good luck.

Just to add, if they are running thick paper but not using correct settings I've had that destroy the hot roller on BW machines and it will probably do the same to the fusing sleeve on a color. Toner ends up getting fused to the fuser.

I have an 5503 ,basically its a 3003 "on steroids" . For fuser and pcu`s u need to make little maint every 30k-50k Mine has close to 1mil . I want to ask if your pcu gear (witch is rotated by the motor ) gets detroyed? After latest firm upgrade seams that the machine uses to much torque and "clears the teeth" on that gear .Overall is a good machine
