    mpc305 tray jammed

Anyone come across the problem where the tray just comes out a couple of inches and then jams solid ? How do I un-jam it, short of tipping the copier on its back which looks rather ugly infront of the customer, and whats the cure ? thanks.

the self closing mechanism is stuck, I cant remember the recommended procedure to release, the unrecommended method is move the machine to the edge of the bench and dig around from underneath at the rear of tray

Haven't had it on a C305, but on a number of models the rear side fence will pop out of it guides and bind against the paper switch.

This is a common problem, very easy to fix, simply lift up the rear left of the machine, push your other hand up under & push the paper tray while pulling it out, I can do this on my own no problem.

It happens when the customer slams the paper tray shut, there is a mod but I simply train the customer & explain the tray has a "soft close" mechanism!!!!

Thanks guys. Get access to the underside by either propping the machine up or pulling it over the side of the cabinet, push upwards while pulling the tray out. And hopefully the whole thing not crashing to the floor. My initial thoughts were to pull out all pcu's etc and tilt it onto its back. Will give it a try. Does temporarily greasing it work or will it jam back in straight away ? Zeldaman, any chance of attaching those bullitins ?

If only I could get my customers to stop slamming tandem trays shut so hard they run the right tray over the stopper on consoles.

Thanks everyone, that worked just great. We learn something new every day. Zeldaman, thanks for the bulletins, will get that bracket ordered. Not sure what the first bulletin in German was about re the other cassettes, but the second one RD117048 is exactly what is relevent to this issue.
