    04 Range - Special Service

    Hi all,

Recently we've got our hands on a bunch of colour 04 machines, and for the most part we're figuring things out. One head scratcher however is entering SSP, specifically for locking the scanner unit for the sake of transit. With the newer screens we're stumped figuring this out..

No doubts it'll be the most obvious thing ever. Cheers

It mentions it in the installation part of the service manual, but basically when you receive the machine there are two locking pins holding the scanner carriage in place. This stops the unit moving when it's being moved in transport or being lifted at an angle. At a guess the new type of unit are heavier and as such are easier to damage through movement.

            IIRC the sp is 4-806-001

Once you've used the code the unit moves slightly. Don't try to scan after doing this, you'll crash the machine on the current firmware

I think that code only moves the scanner out from under the ADF slit glass so that dust won't fall on the optics while the machine is being moved.

Oh dear...I installed two MPC4504's last week and thought it was a typo in the manual. Couldn't find SP4-806-001 in SP.. Just transported without the lock's installed..

                  Hi there!
Our company transported now 10 of this new boxes without the lockpins & nothing bad happens.

It might be in the scanner SP menu. I've transported copiers 60-70 miles without the scanner pins and it doesn't seem to matter. I think if you smacked the machine hard enough to matter it would break something.

                      Hi,

To move the scan carriage back to it's transport position.
                      Enter service mode reset + 143 + c twice
                      Enter 4804 and execute
                      Enter 4806 and execute
