    MPC 2800 magnt dev in a MPC 3002? b230 9670

I got a call for a mpc3002 dev change and customer cant wait for me to order it,3-5 days
as some bozo vacunmed out the unit and left it...
THE mpc2800 color drum works in the mpc3002 so I assume the dev will too, both 225 grams.
Am I correct in my thinking?
    thnx in advance

The drums for a number of models are the same. That does not mean that the developer/toner are the same. Check the recipe code on the toner bottles. If they are the same, you might be OK unless there is a difference in the grain of the developer. You should be able to get t he developer over night if you let Ricoh know that it is for a critical customer with a down machine.

There is a likely hood that it will work the question is for how long, the mixture of toner to developer may be different so it may run for a few days and get really dirty and crappy or it may not, if your willing to put it in and dump it when the correct one arrives you could most likely do it.

I have on accident put the wrong dev in a b&w model I once dumped a back of b065 type into a b234 machine the bags physically feel about the same weight it wasnt till i was writing off part numbers that i noticed and by then i had already initialized it, it did run though for 400k pages without any issue. Color dev might be a little more picky though, i think some of those older B&Ws are pretty much the same only real difference being the volume in the bag.

I'd go for it, what's the worst? have to change dev again?

I ended up finding someone close with the right developer making a bunch of calls and
now the customer cant decide to spend for it...so much for their urgent need...........

Just for future reference, the B230 developer goes in the C2500/3000/3500/4500.
The D023 developer goes in the C2800/3300/4000/5000.
Putting B230 developer in a 2800 will give you faded/washed out fill in the solids.

                Yup.
Put the wrong developer in & had to go back the next day.
It was the black developer though, not magenta.

I think we've accidently installed SPC820 PCUs instead of SPC830 and it worked flawless so I'd go for it, too
