220 Laser synchronization detection error B246
The 1st laser synchronization detection unit could not detect the line synchronization signal (DETP0) within 500 ms while the polygon mirror motor was operating at normal speed. Note: The unit polls for the signal every 50 ms. This SC is issued after the 10th attempt fails to detect the signal.

    • Laser synchronization boardconnector loose, broken, defective
    • Laser synchronization detection board is not installed correctly (out of alignment)
    • Laser synchronization board defective
    • IPU defective

Also could be the poly mirror, laser emitter or door switches.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

I had few of these machines on field, with blown polygon motor causing SC220.

This thread is 3 years old, you might want to start a fresh one. 90% of the time a sc220 is caused by a failed polygon mirror motor ( inside the LD assembly).

A lot of the times you can see the components on the board that got fried and burnt copper traces too..
To me a lot the times you can see if earlier or latter models will fit..
at worse you waste time checking..
I havent saved my last mp6500/mp6001 trade ins as time was not there for it...Otherwise i would offer up some cheap
                          options..

Wow thanks for the speedy reply where is the best place to pickup parts? I am an ex Xerox tech I got this machine for Free So I am fixing it up and going to donate it some place who can use it

To be certain it's the motor I could go in the input out put and turn it on and I should hear it rather than strip the machine down that faar
