It is under the MP C2003/C2503 service files or part of the service manual for the 2003/2503.

To wit you said that you do not sell very many 60+ ppm models. Current ALL current production 20 to 80 ppm color and B/W models except Production Printing Systems now have the SOP by default.

I think the 54 series would be an exception to that. Though you can get them as an option which makes me want to kick the sales guy every time because I dislike installing them.

That is correct! Now it's time to get used to it like it or not.....

BTW there is a Mandatory firmware update from Ricoh for all SOP versions due to some security issues that most of us will never see occur, but Ricoh dealers get paid to do the updates.......................

Has anyone tried to enter Recovery Mode in order to update the firmware of SOPv2? I tried several times but didn't succeed. SD card is put in controller SD slot, ZIP file is in the root of SD, proper combination of EX buttons is used, but still nothing...

I believe if you are trying to update the SOP and not the mainframe, you have to use the SD slot on the SOP.

I tried it, although the manuals and bulletin (attached above from teebee1234) state that SOPv2 firmware update is done via SD slot on the controller.

You are right only if we talk about SOPv1.

I did a few SOP v2 updates recently. You have to hold, not just press, the second key combination. Also you need to have the panel in 'normal' startup mode. So:

                          Ensure 'normal' SOP startup
Press and hold EX1 + EX3 during power on until first splash screen (blue graphic)
Then Press and hold EX1 + EX2 until recovery screen appears.

                            Finally succeeded!

Please, be careful with the following:
                            1. ZIP file is in the root of SD. (I didn't tried to update with the Package.apk).
                            2. SD card is put in SOP SD slot!
                            3. Use proper combination of EX buttons, the second combination of EX buttons must be hold although the training materials state just to press them... (as described above from
                            zed255)

                            Thanks to all!!!

Be careful with the type of SD card you are using too. The ops panels don't like SDHC cards for firmware updates
