    Ricoh C6502 - 402-54

Ive been working on this machine for a few days now and it has the SC code listed in the title. I replaced the developer as the manual suggests and no go. I had someone suggest replacing some rollers on the ITB like the bias roller and did that and no go. What could this possibly be? The power pack? The LD unit?

Next step would be dev unit, it's a gamma output error.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Youll have to pardon my ignorance on the subject but in what way would the dev unit be defective?

Defective TD sensor. Broken gears on the paddle shafts, Broken paddle shafts. Just to mention a few that I have had in the past.

I boiled it down to the yellow pcdu at least from sp 3012-001. So i should replace the whole dev unit at this point? I dont think theres anything else to check, really.

I believe i found my smoking gun. Swapping the td sensor made the machine change error states. Turning off gamma correction allows the machine to print albeit a bit light. The TD sensors seem to be at the heart of the issue.

Replacing the potential sensor that sits above the PCDU solved this as I suspected it would. A shame I spent and entire shift driving there and back.
