I have mp4001 great prints, not sp dense copies, is there some trick to get the copies up to speed? i have somewhat new dv less than 50k on it, could the ID sensor cause this?if its faulty?
machine has 818k on it
I usually replace the entire PCDU using the SP8200A kit.
It gives you a new pcu and dev at a reduced cost.
The downside is that they're only good for 60k so if the machine has heavy usage you'll be there a couple of times a year to fit a new PCDU.
You followed the Process setting steps in the manual yes?
If you skip any of those steps you can get copy quality issues.
thanks and yes ive cleaned all the optics, excuse me but where is the white reference plate? under the glass? then it got cleaned... if not where is it?

For the Mp 4001 there is no SC 375 error. Is it possible it was an SC 355 (Grayscale measurement error)? 355 would indicate either normal PCU maintenance is needed, or the laser shield glass is dirty. Based on the prints being fine, copies being bad, and the Dev only being 1/3 of it's life (assuming the maintenance cycle was done properly) I would suggest checking the Shield Glass. Toner/Dev is known to leak onto the glass and it will cause the drum image to lose density, thus causing SC 355 and poor copies.
The Shield Glass is behind the metal tab just under the Toner, you have to squeeze it fairly hard to remove it. Once the metal tab is off, just remove the glass, wipe it off, and reinstall. At almost a mil on the machine, if it's never been cleaned it's bound to be messy.

sorry it was 372, and i have to yet do the ID sensor replacement, i will monday and re post and thank yo for the info but i am aware of the slit glass under the toner bottle, first thing i usually do

At that point, SC 372 is a TD Sensor Adjustment Error. It would be worth checking the TD snsr and connector while at the machine.
