    Ricoh SP4210N printer (Lanier LP37N)

Trying to connect this lanier LP37 printer with a USB cable to Win 7. Can I use the Ricoh SP4210 driver or universal? Or does lanier have their own drivers? Computer recognizes the printer and tries to install but says no driver available.

Will this printer work with win 7 and usb connection, what is procedure to install driver, etc ? Customer wants to only connect with USB.

    Thanks in advance

Download and extract the appropriate PCL6 win 7 or win 7 X64 driver. Do not use the universal or mini drivers.

If a USB printer has previously been in stalled, then use add printer. If the the USB port is not available, leave the LP 37N disconnected and delete any unknown device that may have been previously installed. Locate the OEMSETUP.inf file in the extracted driver, right click on it and select Install. Once the .INF file has been installed, connect the LP37N and the automatic add new discovered device should find and install the printer using the install .INF file information.

Ricoh PCL6 driver should be fine.
It's the one I tend to use for USB installs.

Hey slim, your method worked on XP but would not work on win 7 prof. Message comes up saying "the inf file you selected does not support this method of installation".

        Any other ideas?

        Thanks

Then you better hope that the USBPrint function is already installed. Windows should install it automatically the first time it sees a USB connected printer. If USB is not available as a port when using Add New Printer, then they will have to use network connection. If they do not have a network, use a crossover cable and fixed IP addresses, example computer 192.168.1.10 and printer 192.168.1.50 sub net mask 255.255.255.0

Google Lanier drivers, download the driver for that model, follow the self extracting install then connect USB cable and it should setup driver. Had a similar issue on a Lanier printer needing to connect my laptop via USB to use SOM. Ricoh driver would not load but found Lanier site followed the steps and it detected the driver.

Thanks Davel. The Lanier driver worked!
