[CQ] Ricoh MP2000 getting lines on top and bottom of copy.

    Ricoh MP2000

    RUNNING PRINT METER READING PAGE;
Feeding paper in LF get line 1/2" from top and a line about 1.5" from bottom

lead to trail. Using top or bottom cassette; happens before the fuser

section. If I feed SF paper lines are outside image area (don't see lines).

Changed Drum, Blade,Developer and Transfer roller. Did not change Charge

roller-but visually saw no damage to charge roller.

I cleaned the laser slit glass even though a dirty slit glass would cause

blank lines, cleaned it just the same.

I didn't try reducing or enlarging. Any thoughts what could cause these

    lines.

Did you do a forced stop to see if the line is on the drum? If so it will be charge.

Do the lines go all the way to the edge of the page, if so it is charge / drum, if not it is optics.

In reply to qbert69 I ran a PRINT METER copy- it doesn't use scanning- only laser optics. NOTE: The lines were there before I changed the Drum and Developer.

In reply to ruben I stopped copy before fuser and lines happen before. I replaced most of the major drum parts except the Charge Roller because I didn't have one and because it didn't have any visible damage. The lines didn't match anything in paper path area that I could see.

I'm going to order and change the charge roller and install it on next call- I'll also try reduction and enlargement just to see if there is a difference.
I don't want to remove and clean laser ass'y but it might be my last resort.

If you can think of any test or solutions; they are appreciated. Thanks!

It won't be laser, change charge roller and its cleaning roller, check for bad blade.

Clean the charge roller with a soft clothe moistened with water.

If this is a Black & White machine, the rubber charge rollers last a looong time!....I just usually use a paper tower moistened with water and a steady scrub...usually takes care of it!....I can do the same for the rubber charge rollers on Kyocera machines too! If the drum looks good and the developer is good, the only thing to change would be the drum cleaning blade!!!

If you read the first post, everything except the charge roller WAS replaced.

This may sound silly or obvious, but when you changed the drum and blade did you vac out the cleaning section ? Try another charge roller, even if its another used one.
