Info needed regarding MPC 300/400 series machines

    good morning

I HAVE yet to buy any of these series for resale and would normally buy the mpc305 series but
hearing what a headache that box can be i decided to stay clear.
I have been told the mpc 300 series are good boxes and i can get a bunch but most
of the black copy meters are in the 250k to 400k range.
I m concerned with having to rebuild fuser units and or the transfer belts.
Drums I am ok with as i will part out some units and if possiblle use low meter color drums
and modify them when a black drum is needed.
so should i take a plunge in this series?
    thnx in advance

do u know the pm cycle on these? they are not very long and looking at the meters of the ones you looking at, it should have had the unit rebuilt 4 times minimum for 250k

i can only compare them to the mpc2050,\
might be wrong on that too.but on the mpc2050 and 51 series i have had good luck
getting close to 125k after cleaning charge roller..

The MPC300/400 is an excellent model better than the 305, however if they have not had the laser mod board fitted you WILL have to replace the laser units & these are very expensive!
You can fit the SPC430DN fuser unit with a simple mod these units are a lot cheaper.

If your budget allows go for the later MPC401 model.

            THNX
I am at the mercy of the lease company and what comes back in...will check mpc401 availability.
i love the mpc3501 series but cant find any with low count anymore and
just bought my first mpc3502 today and have yet to see it untill i schedule to pick it up
            next week.
someone i met and independant tech like myself raved about
the mpc300 that he resold in his area..
I too old to play with headache models...
i did that working for minolta for 10 years and i am more picky now..

Agree about the Fuser mod. The SPC430 drums also work with a wire and TD sensor swap, and a connector grind (on the colour units) not to mention that the ITB, and transfer rollers are also the same.
I can pick up Low meter units in my area for next to nothing to harvest parts, which has been very helpful.
As for reliability, I've only source and sold relatively low meter units, so I don't have out there with the 250-400K range, but they've been very reliable so far

You and me both bro. The Mpc305spf and related machines have to be the worst machine i've ever worked on. Including Canon, HP and Ricoh. The amount of work and things that can go wrong with these pieces of crap they're not worth it. The hopper mod. The main drive issues and now sc672. How can a machine have this many problems straight outta the box? Well Ricoh ?

MPC300/400 series machines were VERY under rated! 20k MDC and solid design. Only shortcoming is no A3. And the left DF hinge that was a design mistake (as said before). There were TSBs about that.

The MPC305 is by no means a comparison! More like POS! Poor CQ from new, drum units that seldom make anywhere near yield, the list goes on.

Why the made the model numbers so close beats me.

The mpc300/400 (as said before) is family of the SPC430 - which when sold into the right environment works well. Experience has taught me that it does not want to stand as the toner supply tubes clog up and then the toner coils break. Can't say that i have seen that happen on a MPC300/400 yet!
