Buy the machine that you need.

Aside from all the stickers and decals, probably several boards. Look through the parts manual and see which boards have dual part numbers (i.e. a part number for the 4002 board and a different number for the 5002 board).

If I were to attempt this crazy venture my GUESS would be to replace the controller. the controller NVRAM, and the EEPROM on the BCU.

Doing this would lose you your counter, all your non default settings (so hopefully you backed them up to an SD card AND printed a non default report) and there is no guarentee that it will work.

The only reason I can see to want to do this is to buy a cheap 4002 and try to resell it as a 5002, shady business to say the least.

You will get an SC 995-004, incorrect model controller installed, and will be unable to operate the machine.
