Ricoh MP C4504 won't print if connected to AD for scanning to network folders

Hello,
I'm in the IT department of a company that acquired one of these nice Ricoh MP C4504 units. It prints beautifully but they also would like to leverage scanning to email and/or network folders. When we configure to to connect to the primary domain controller for Active Directory Authentication print jobs no longer work. Print jobs hit the print server and then vanish into thin air without actually printing. The domain is Windows Server 2012 R2 and the File & Print server hosting the driver is a Windows Server 2008 R2.

Once you remove the AD configuration then print jobs work without an issue.

Any idea why configuring one of these on the Active Directory domain would cause print jobs to no longer print?

If the print jobs are vanishing, the machine is expecting the print jobs to be authenticated correctly and they aren't.

Sounds like you are turning on user autentication/user codes & if this is not set up in the driver the jobs will be deleted

We need the user authentication for the scan to network so the system knows what folders the user has access to, or even scan to email so the recipient knows who the documents are coming from (even if they are emailing to themselves it has to come from someone, right?)

So what do you put in the driver? A Domain Admin account? What happens if that account password changes? Just take a note of it and look at that when you get a call for print jobs not working? Do you create a special service account for it?

We want to simulate what we do with our Fujitsu ScanSnap machines with this Ricoh but have it work as an all in one. With our Fujitsu machines they walk up to it, wake it up and type in AD username and password, and then use the touch screen to save or email scans.

You're confusing Ricoh's implementation of it's internal user authentication with your AD user authentication.

Turn on everything you need for AD EXCEPT Ricoh User Authentication, you'll be fine.

Turn on everything you need for AD EXCEPT Ricoh User Authentication, you'll be fine.
