Pull it apart and find what is stopping it.

Have you checked the scanner rails if there is obstruction?
How about the strings? the scanner drive motor? The board that powers the scanner motor? The board that energizes the motor?
        Aye! Cut the crap

a senior tech even tho haven't worked on these machine should be able to do more than off/on. I surprised you didn't pop the glass and look inside. Or maybe I'm just a little more inquisitive than most.

It's possible the original scanner pins have not been correctly removed. If you look under the scanner there may be black plastic tabs sticking out. Twist and pull down to remove hope this helps

Please supply a little more information:

Are there noises when you turn the machine on? Can you hear the scanner motor come on?

Are there any SC codes or other messages displayed on the screen?

Does the scanner lamp come on?

Does the machine have a DF on or just a platen cover?

Have you done an output check on the scanner motor to test if it works?

In order for us to help you, you need to supply as much info as possible, as we are not at the machine to be able to assist you.

Try this , open the platen glass and move scanner to home position. Then switch on. If the scanner moves again to the same position and stops then there's a possibility its a problem with the scanner drive motor

But do not withdraw from the pulleys, it does not lose synchronization
