Yes that is correct, you can make a few changes & this drum can also be used as colour (it is cheaper than the official colour drums)

      thanks
I was curious with regard to the newer series drums ie the 02s and 03s color units,
do you see anything better with regard to lifespan, and how soon you would see copy quality issues
      from the charge roller?
Or are they just the same as the older c2500 drums

So to make the B224-2042 DRUM a mpc2800 color drum one would file corner and swap wires

You can make these drums fit on the 02 models. The only thing stopping the drums going in are little pins at the rear of the machine where the drums would sit. You can remove these pins easily with tin snips or by rocking the metal below the pin from left to right with pliers(careful with the rocking method as the frame can catch you).
Even though there's a big lube bar on the original black they will fit as long as the connector at the rear of the pcu is filed down.
          03 are totally different

Ditto on all responses, except the rocking of the plate to break it. I do it that way but It is tough to get a clean edge and talk about a pain to get in there.

I use a dremel with a cutting wheel. Off in seconds.

Nothing will fit the 03's yet only option is the standard units, they are expensive however they do over 400k so worth the extra cost.

so i did get to this account and installed 2 OEM MPC2800 COLOR DRUMS AND ONE B224-2042 DRUM.
the latter drum i used a sheetrock razor to cut corner and then swapped the two pins on connector.
After installing all 3 drums and doing the service mode drum resets and repower up I got reset yellow drum error.
I double connectors to dev and tried again NO Good..
i ended up pulling apart the bad used drum and found out you dont swap out the two wires.

                      hello,
just keen to know if you are referring to either the Black or Colour PCU? And basically how much does a new PCU cost you? I have been working on a few of them and would like to see if we both are doing the same in terms of PM replacements. Thanks.

If you are using the B224-2042 on an MPC2800 up to a C5501 you need to swap the wires on BLACK ONLY. We also use them on 02 series black, but don't swap the wires.
