    Hard Drive Wipe

I have to arrange the return of a Ricoh MPC-5502 to the leasing company. The customer firsts wants me to first wipe the Hard Drive clean.

Please provide the procedure to do so.

    Thanks,

Remove it and hand it over. Replace it with any off the shelf drive

Will that not turn the copier into a brick, if it has no operating system? Or does the O/S reside on a board?

      Thanks,

Erase All Data in User Tools > System Settings > Administrator Tools

OS is in ROM, HDD is just for Address Book, transient data, document server and a select few settings.

You could can run SP5845-046 in special SP mode, this will delete the address book & reset the admin password back to default.

Also you can format the HDD using SP5832-001 this will format/erase everything on the hard disk.

But I agree I also charge the customer for this, get your laptop out, make the process take longer to justify the charge! ;O)

The MP C5502's come with DOS which has the secure hdd erase function.
