    Ricoh MPC3003 white lines

    Hi,

    Weird problems on an MPC3003.
Changed the developer unit lately because of white stripes, only in K mode.
After the change no problems, black copy and prints were good. (no stripes)

However, about 4K counts later, again white stripes. (see photo's)
cleaned the laser, notice that again the developer rol is not completely filled with developer . .

Anyone a solution or explanation why it returned after only 4K ?

    Thanks in advance

    Are you using genuine toner?

I think the user use the cheapest paper and paper dust can contaminate the developer and the result can be like this.

Is it the same toner bottle
you could have an issue with lumps in the toner it may just be a bad toner
when did the fault originally start was it round about the time they replace the toner ?
if you are going to replace the developer unit again i would remove the toner vac out the toner pipes and replace the toner bottle as well

I agree must be poor toner.

If you clean the dv roller (run paper under the blade) & do a forced toner supply do the deletions move etc?

The key is work out if there is a loss of developer or just contamination in the k dev unit.

Do a dev change and fold over a piece of paper and run it between the mag roller and doctor blade. You have obstructions there causing the problem. Using OEM toner and developer helps, and make sure the machine filters are clean. Too much heat compounds the problem.

when you say "changed the developer unit" do you mean a brand new unit which comes with new developer, or a used developer unit from another machine ? A new unit should not have this issue, a used unit from another machine, most probably will have. Did you take apart the drum unit and service it ? The wear of the lub bar on those generates a load of white powder that if not cleaned out can find its way into the dev.

                    Check the toner pum once.

seems to be a contaminated development unit. We have had one where the toner bottle was stored in a hot cabinet causing the toner to cake up in the bottle and once installed in the machine, it would supply the caked toner to the process unit creating deletions. Solution was to remove and service the entire sub hopper assembly until we got rid of all toner in the system, replace dev tank and toner at the same time. do check if the other PM parts are in order. Thanks.

We don't want to take chance on this. Before replacing the development unit, we usually clean the toner transport assembly for lump toners and make sure everything is clean. A new genuine toner is highly recommended also after development unit replacement.
