[CQ] Ricoh C3002 wit poor density

    Hello everyone,

I have 2 Ricoh C3002, one with 93k and the other with 63k. My customer is not satisfied with the quality most important to what he does is the print quality. I will attach scans of is complaints. I am trying to get the density on all colors to improve, Its almost as if the toner is not being laid on thick enough. Ive made various adjustments from sp mode. Gamma, LD, Density and even fuser adjustments. I am much more comfortable with Konica Minolta but do really like the quality of Ricoh machines. He is running Glossy paper through the bypass. But I can tell that even when he runs plain paper the denisty id very blotchy and not quite what it should be. Can someone help point me in the right direction?

    Thank You Much,
    Emmanuel

Can we start with the basics? Have you cleaned the optics and the laser slit glass? Have you run Auto Colour Calibration (User Tools- Maintenance-ACC) ? Is the customer using genuine Ricoh toner and a reasonable quality paper?

Also I'd like to point out that I've never had to fiddle with the Gamma or LD and rarely adjusted the density levels on this range of copiers. I do hope you have the birth certificate for both copiers so you can return everything to the factory settings.
At 93K and 63K everything should be well within its expected life and it is unlikely that both copiers develop the same problem at the same time so I would be looking for something common to both, ie toner and paper.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

Thank you for your response. I have cleaned the optics etc, although its a print issue, not a copy issue. I also ran color calibration. I do know that hes using excellent quality paper, what I dont know is if the toner is genuine Ricoh. I guess that I can look for that tomorrow. Thank you for your suggestion about the machines "birth certificate" I made sure to set everything back to its original state when I saw that I did not get the desired result. I also tried different drivers to no avail. I will look into the toner possibility asap but is there any other density adjustment you or anyone can suggest?

you said he is using glossy paper from the bypass. what media setting is he using? thick 1,2,3 etc? it looks like it might not be fusing cleanly thus giving that splotchy density look. just a thought.

If the copy quality is OK when you copy but a problem when you print it sounds like the developer units have the correct amount of toner in the dev. Have you tried printing a test image and the customers file to the copiers with your laptop?

We printed with thick 3, thick 4, coated, and then downloaded a different driver to use Glossy.

              I haven't tried that. I will tomorrow.

I increased the fuser temperature to make sure it was being fused properly. it didnt help. what has seemed to help a little was the gamma and ld adjustments but the colors changed drastically.
