mpc4502 does not recognize paper size on glass

At idea why mpc4502 does not recognize paper sizebon glass?

doc feeder works fine, auto paper on. Immediately copies on 11x17 no matter what is on glass

there are two sensors one is for platen lid detect and other for adf. doc feed assy use both sensor. lift doc feeder over by left hinge is a sensor and flag is mounted on doc feeder make sure it is going into sensor can do a input check to see if senor is working. i seen hinge get miss up. so when you close it sensor changes to A 1 but when down completely goes back to o or low. and if that happens wont detect paper size.

look that "auto tray" selection is default.
Probable tray 1 (or so) is default.

It is. Must be something we calibrate in scanner under glass to fix this but I have not found it

If it was me I would check auto paper select and check copy tray priority in user tools. I would also quickly remove the platen glass and give a good clean of the optics for safe measure.

Have you tried a different doc feeder. I have seen hinges get bent so doc feeder doesn't close properly. pull trays out when you close doc feeder does display say load 11x17 paper and you have 81/2 by 11 on glass. if so then doc feeder is not closing properly also i sure you went into service mode and did 4301 aps operation check and made sure sensors under platen glass are working. If not should see 00000011 for 81/2by 11 00001000 81/2x11R 00011000 81/2x14 00011000 11x17
I have plenty of ricoh 220 have this problem and hinges were miss up or if they had platen lids they broke where seams where and not close properly and cause it.

By the way. Scans through adf work fine

There are length sensors under the platen glass. The one that is uncovered by 14" paper but covered by 17" paper is defective/dirty.
