    SPC840/842 maintenance kits

    Ok peeps

I just found out there is a printer version of the MPC6004 which comes with all maintenance kits, PCDU's transfer and fuser kits

Anyone modified the maintenance kit yet to find out if they will work on the MPC6004 yet

Waiting for part numbers myself to see if this can be done......

Time to save a bucket load of cash again.....

We just had an 840 black kit, colour kit and fuser delivered today to try and modify.
If we figure it out we'll be making a step by step to give to our techs in the field and i'll pass it along.
    ITB is on backorder.

I am told the fuser will not work but I guess you could use parts from it to rebuild the old one(depending on cost comparison), ITB I think you hae to leave cover off.

Hey Oz and Imprestik, have any success getting a SPC 840 colour maint kit working in a MP C'04 yet?
All our '04's are starting to come up for PCU's and it is going to hurt the bosses bottom line bad!

No, PCDU's units are different. not directly interchangeable.

The MPCxx04 PCUs are a lot cheaper than the xx03 so its not really an issue.
You can also fit the xx04 black PCU into the xx03 as colour or black.

Hi Copier Tech, just to clarify, a MP C '04 black PCU (D239 2242) will fit straight into a MP C '03 without having to strip the internals out of it and transferring them to the '03 case?
And you have done this yourself successfully?

Sorry to be pedantic but there has been a bit of miss-information floating around out there about about how to bypass Ricoh's outrageous price for colour PCU's.

                  Thanks, Lagonda.

                    Re: SPC840/842 maintenance kits

Yes 03 and 04 PCU's are all interchangable

I have done this myself with no issue

In saying that the same goes with the lower end MPC2003 and MPC2004 PCU's

Both are interchangeable between both models

With the 840 PCDU kits all that's required for them to work in a 04 series is to replace the TD sensor with harness off the original unit and place it in the 840 PCDU. Also if you are putting the 840 kits into a 3004, 3504 and 4504 you need to remove the lube bar and re tension the springs as the 840 PCDU's are designed for the 6004's with the lube bar tension already released

Also the PCDU front covers don't fit so I just leave them behind the machine

In saying this I have put the SPC840 in many models from MPC3004's all the way to 6004's with mixed results. On high colour used devices they seem to fail anywhere from 40 to 70% of their life, some have gone PM to PM, it's been real hit and miss.

Hi did you manage to do this on the 03 Range yet? It has a longer TD sensor but the issue seems to be the coil part at the bottom of the sensor will not allow it to lay flat.

                      Thanks

Simply use the 04 PCU on the 03 way cheaper.

Yes they are, however you need to swap over the td sensor.

Big cost savings so worth the effort.
