    Ricoh 1232C problems

    Hi,
Been retired for some months now but hubby has been called in to look at a problem copier at our old work. 1232 jamming from every tray. Has rebuilt fuser, replaced drive train ( as recommended in a bulletin), replaced all paper feed rollers AND clutches. Will print a few then jam around the vertical feed paperpath area or not even pick up.
Occasionally there will be a "reseat black toner" error message come up and now the users advised him the other day that unit produces streaky toner colour copies and has had a problem for ages!!!.
When you do get a copy, B/W are OK. I've read and heard that this model is one of the nasty ones that no tech likes.
    Any hints

    Hi
The toner not set can be cured with a BICU firmware update.
Does the drive train mean the transport bracket? I would recommend he just replace this rather than replace the individual parts. This can cause jamming with the transfer roller not moving away from the ITB at the correct time and poor cleaning of the ITB.
The streaking can also be caused by the PCU earth strip not making good contact with the main shaft.
Of course the streaking colour copies could just be faulty dev units.
No, it was not one of Ricohs finest machines.

Paper jams before the fuser are usually caused by faulty clutches. Fumes from the oil tank contaminate the registration, paper forwarding and paper feed clutches, the only fix is to replace them.

Copy quality can be almost any thing. I would tend to think its the clutch on the transfer cleaning station not lifting the the blade clear of the belt. You have to replace the entire gear box to fix this one.

Yes, the rumours are true, this copier has been responsible for giving a lot of techs ulcers!! The cure, trade it in!

Perhaps he'll just give the scavengers at the local tip a thrill when he tips it off the back of the truck!!!!

If you had to put more than $50 into this unit, I would use it to start an artificial reef. To say this was not Ricoh's best machine is being too kind. The Aficio 1224/1232 were among the worst models ever released by Ricoh. The engineers that designed these boxes were probably reassigned to other duties, perhaps designing fake piles of doggie doo. Since they were already so experienced at designing real pieces of... Well, you get the idea.

Ricoh Aficio 1232c - Paper Jam B and Z (Only when Duplexing)

Ricoh aficio 1232c. The registration clutch SP 5804-11 is NOT making a clicking sound in output mode. Paper jams at point B and Z when duplexing ONLY. What part number do I need to replace this reg clutch and would cleaning this reg clutch out help?

Is there anything else I can check. The T/B Cleaning clutch is fine and making the clicking sound SP 5804-33.

                  All help very much appreciated.
