    MP C3002 FUSER SLEEVE

I just serviced an account where the fuser sleeve had a thumb size indent in the middle
of the sleeve that caused a noise when cycling.
The copies look ok and this machine has yet to hit 100k.
Can one order just the sleeve or does Ricoh only offer the whole fuser sleeve assembly?
I saw i can buy a aftermarket sleeve but have yet to pull apart
the c3002 fuser units yet and it seems every model ricoh changes their design.
so is it a pain to pull apart the fuser sleeve?
and 2nd does ricoh offer just the sleeve?
    thanks in advance

Pretty sure Ricoh doesn't offer the sleeve part by itself, though I know there are some third-party vendors out there that sell it. I've talked to guys who've pulled them apart and they've all said it isn't worth the trouble.

      thanks
from what i see this series has not received high praise with regards to the fuser unit.
I have done a lot of HP printer fuser sleeves and aftermarkets work well.
As for this model I have yet to try.
You state not worth it,is that after they have installed a new sleeve?
I am old school, I actually enjoy taking things apart and not being just a "unit swapper"..
I t gets boring not actually fixing what really broke...

Save yourself the headache, replace the assembly.

If you are just replacing the fusing sleeve, you will also need to replace the oil supply pad and bushings; both these wear down very quickly.

Also, no one has fully tested any after market versions of the sleeves; so they may not last upto, or even near, life.

I had to disassemble a sleeve unit on one of these. A junior tech had ordered the EU parts number instead of the US number. Had to take the lamp assembly out of the old one and put it in the new one. Not a fun job and time consuming.

              thanks for the replies..
looks like i will order the whole unit and swap out..
Only took the covers off but am curious is pulling the whole assembly a pain too?
if i need to manage time to do this 1st time would 60 minutes a fair guess?
when you say oil supply pad and bushings would an 80k meter matter?
My thought is to save the bad unit and pull it apart in my shop..
i miss the days of teflon rollers esp the ricoh 1060 that lasted for ever.......

It's not hideous really. I'd go for 1.5hrs that way you can take your time. It's not as easy as the sleeve units on the 54 series BW machines, but sort of similar concept in that the heating sleeve part comes off as an assembly.

Ricoh have modified these sleeves now & with a fw update the life is a lot longer.

Don't forget to replace the pressure roller assembly at the same time.
