    SD Cards

Haven't used an SD card in a while for firmware simply because it's easier to use my laptop. However, with this new firmware and mylar update were getting ready to do on all these **03 color machines; I'm going to put the firmware on SD cards to do firmware updates. All that being said, are the RFG machines ok using the SDHC cards or do they only like SD cards?

I've used SDHC cards in the 03 & 04 ranges without any issues(yet)

Most types we have used work OK. The only time we see problems is if cards have more capacity than 1GB. Then the card won't be seen by the copier or won't find files. Using the proper folder and file names in the correct order is imperative in ANY case.

example: If the SD card is blank, copy the entire "romdata" folder onto the SD card.If the card already contains folders up to "D284" (copier product number), copy the necessary firmware files (e.g. D284xxxx.fwu) into this
      folder.
      • Do not put multiple machine firmware programs on the same SD card. Copy the only model firmware you want.

Most newer models will take larger SD cards up to 2GB. I think the latest models 54's and C**04's will take 4GB. If you don't have a 512M or 1GB card and the machine will not take a 2GB or larger, you can always use a utility such as Mini Tools Partition Wizard to create a 1GB card.

As an all-in-one free partition manager and disk manager software, MiniTool Partition Wizard Free helps manage disk space safely on Windows 11/10/8/7.

Ricoh's electronics do seem to be a little bit "prissy" huh?

This is from the bulletin, verbatim..."CAUSE:The On/Off Control of the IC and an opening in the IOB Mounting Bracket permitted heat to escape thecomponents."

In my humble, yet professional opinion, this means components on the pwb BURNED UP!

I have 2 SD cards that I normally use and never had any issues:
                          - 2GB Verbatim SD
                          - 4GB Kingston SDHC

And I usually copy the package and romdata folders at the same time to the card.
