Ricoh is pushing out a mandatory update for all Metis models. They have sent letters out to most customers regarding the issue which is a result of the skew motor sticking on. There is a small risk of fire involved due to the driver IC on the IO board as a result. There is a small mylar sheet and adhesive backed sheet that is applied to the backside of the IO board. Firmware levels should also be brought to their highest levels, but especially the engine firmware to apply a change to allow the machine to force the skew motor off. Please note that if a machine has received custom firmware, it is not to have the firmware upgraded. Ensure that engine firmware is the latest version and matches the machine configuration. Models configured with the model 3090 SPDF receive 1.39:08, etc.

How to ascertain manufacture date: Example E15-4-M-4-2 1513E15 = Model / 4 = Year / M = Factory / 4 = Month 1 through 9 is Jan thru Sept, ABC represents Oct, Nov andDec / 2 Assembly Line / 1513 = production monthly sequence
If you have access to the TSRB, this procedure is outlined in the tech bulletin labeled "Product Safety Information" Ricoh should have techs in the field already making the mandatory changes to the machines but I figured this information may be useful to at least a handful of people.
