Ricoh MPC4500 Photoconductor unit not set BLACK

Okay we went out and replaced a Black PCU and now it says it is not set correctly. Seems to be something in the machine went wonky. Plug at rear looks fine, drum works fine in another machine.

    Any thoughts?

I would double check the female connector on the drive ass'y.

At first glance they can look ok but if the housing is busted it can be pushed inside the drive unit by the male connector.

I've also seen and had a bent pin on the female connector.

But saying that it could also be the dev unit / TD sensor as well.

I assume you attached the drum unit to a different dev unit when you tested it in another MFD?

The connector at the rear side of the machine for the BK (female connector of TD ) could be broken or disconnected

Took The entire PCU to another machine and it works perfect including the developer unit I did not separate them

The female connector looks perfect all the pins inside look perfect nothing looks broken and smashed or bent

Maybe try tracing, checking the wiring loom from the back of the female connector all the way back to the PCB connector.

          A fun job.

yeah fun job indeed. I don't even see how to get to that connector from the back. I took off the back and swiveled out the large piece as usual and still don't see that connector in there. Must be buried!

Maybe the board died for some reason. I have two donor machines. I suppose since the plug looks fine I could swap boards and see if it comes back to life. Any thoughts?

The TD sensors end up at the IOB PCB.
Check the PtoP to see exactly which CN.

I've swapped out a couple of drive units due to broken connector s, it's a little fiddly but not too bad.

Other things to check are blown fuse conditions and door micro switches.

I had a black female connector housing break once. If you take off the right side cover and use a ruler or something of the sorts you can push the connector towards the male side. The black unit is the only one you can reach this way. Once I had it in placed, it stayed there. I made note in the machine's history just in case another tech followed up and had to replaced the black pcu.

Thanks for the tip on the side to see connector. Looks, fine, pushed on it and it did not move so I suppose it is in as it is supposed to be. Maybe a blown board somehow just affecting the black drum unit. Odd, but I have seen stranger things.
