are they on an analog line or VoIP? I have seen that on a VoIP system... resetting the router took care of it .

A reboot took care of the issue, although the phone jack plate hanging out of the wall supported only by the wires is not helping the situation.

Go to fax Features Search parameter setting, the change switch 21 bit 6 from 1to 0
          Reboot the Copy machine

            Agree!
The message will probably return. I've seen this 2 or 3 times in my life. No other issues with the machine. All network settings were correct. Message kept returning after a day or 2.
Turned of "display network errors" as Jolynar said, and it never comes back
