    Ricoh c 3245 over toning

One of my techs has been getting his arse kicked. Heres the scoop so far.

Machine eats a full cart of yellow toner in 1 day and completely overpacks the devo unit which then drops toner and background. He has replaced the devo unit and the drum unit with no change. replaced another devo unit, devo clutch, toner pump, and firmware no change.Replaced ANOTHER devo unit and novram no change

Before we replace BICU pcb and high voltage pcb thought I'd give you folks a crack at it.

Take a look at the readings for the TD sensors. Is the Y calling for toner? Maybe the signal for the yellow pump is shorted and continuing to run even tho its not calling for toner,

I would check the sensor readings, but you have already replaced the toner pump and clutch.

It almost sounds to me as the machine thinks is low on yellow and keeps forcing toner somewhere is not getting the signal detection that toner has been sent and at the current level that indicates a stop.

Sorry I cannot be anymore help. 1st I hear of this

This happened to me with magenta(non-oem toner. not sure that had anything to do with it tho.). I wound up pulling the machine.

In the shop I replaced the drum and dev and so far so good.

Sorry if this is obvious but I did do the resetting of the drum and dev in the service modes.

Please let us know how you make out with this.

As stated before Non-OEM toner is totally against the rules.

Break out your meter and test the toner clutch - should read 24v (to Gnd) on both leads when not activated. The TD sensor readings don't really mean much on most Ricoh machines - it's the ID sensor readings that set the amount of toner to add, but I would expect an SC code if there was a bad ID sensor.

If there has been any major work in the back of the machine, check to see if the Toner Pump is plugged in to the correct harness - there are a lot of 2 pin connectors back there and it is possible to get it wrong. Don't ask me how I know.
